Whether loss touches us in through the death of a loved one or pet, the ending of a significant relationship, career change, or a life transition, we all are all impacted by grief in various ways throughout our lives. While grief is universal, we all experience it differently.

Although I believe there is no “right” way to grieve, unexpressed grief can lead to distressing physical and emotional symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, sad mood, and loss of motivation to name a few. I also recognize that grief can be complicated and is rarely linear.

Sharing our pain with others can help us better understand our grieving process and begin healing. While therapy cannot change the magnitude of a loss, it can help us create meaning in our current experiences.
